The King of Pop Finally Laid to Rest

It took more than two months, but Michael Jackson was finally laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Thursday September 3.

Michael’s children, Prince Michael, Paris, Blanket, his siblings, and parents Joe and Katherine were all in attendance. Also in attendance were Elizabeth Taylor, Lisa Marie Presley, Kenny Ortega, Corey Feldman, Quincy Jones, Berry Gordy, Gladys Knight, Chris Tucker, Barry Bonds, Macaulay Culkin, Mila Kunis, and Rev. Al Sharpton who sent Twitter messages from the funeral. And Al wonders why no one takes him seriously.

Jackson’s backup dancers served as ushers, his brothers, wearing black armbands and a sequined glove on one hand, carried his flower-covered casket out of the hearse and placed it before about 200 mourners on a stage decorated with white lilies and white roses.

Even though the private, intimate gathering was in great contrast to the thousands who attended the internationally telecast memorial service held in July, it did not go as smoothly. The service was delayed due to the arrival of the family motorcade, which didn’t even set out for the location until 7:30 p.m., a full half-hour after the service’s scheduled start time.

It was originally planned to lay the King of Pop to rest on his 51st birthday which was August 29, but the burial was postponed for still unexplained reasons.

Following the service, Jackson’s five brothers carried his casket into the Great Mausoleum, where at 9:43 PM he entered his final resting place.
