The balloon boy saga gets weirder and more twisted.
Yesterday, 6-year-old Falcon Keene, set off a nationally frenzy after it was believed a homemade helium balloon floated off with him inside. Turns out Falcon was never inside, but hiding in a cardboard box in his family’s attic above the garage.
Weird and unusual circumstances, but a simple misunderstanding, right? Hell, no. It seems the parents are 12 kinds of crazy and may have plotted the whole thing. The first red flag came when it was revealed the family were on trashy reality show Wife Swap…twice.
During an interview with CNN’s resident idiot Wolf Blitzer, Blitzer asks the Falcon why he didn’t come out of hiding. First Falcon admits he could hear his parents calling for him. The parents who won’t be winning any Oscars any time soon respond with “You did?.”
Then Falcon drops a bombshell: “You guys said that we did this for a show.”
Richard and Mayumi try to give an explanation that has nothing to do with the Falcon’s statement. Any journalist worth his or her salt would have been all over that, but we’re talking about Wolf Blitzer here.
And it gets worse.
In interviews on The Today Show and Good Morning America, balloon boy threw up each time and the parents didn’t seem to care. Diane Sawyer actually had to tell his mom to go with him to the bathroom. It’s being speculated that the parents gave the child something to make him throw up so he’d stop confessing. MSNBC has said that the parents called them 3 times asking to be on Morning Joe.
It’s clear the children are being pressured to lie by their demented parents.
Larimer County Sheriff’s Department says it is now “investigating the situation.”

The balloon boy story would not have gotten so much publicity if a few of those news reporters had bothered to watch that myth-busters episode about how many helium balloons it takes to lift one small child (thousands)
