Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn Split

A source tells PEOPLE that Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn have called it quits. So shocking, I thought this one would last forever ever.

Speculation about the pair began after Johansson did not attend the Cannes Film Festival with Penn for his movie The Tree of Life. She has been working on The Avengers in New Mexico, reprising her role of Black Widow from Iron Man 2.

The reason for split is entirely know, but does anyone really need a reason to split from Sean Penn? Besides he doesn’t seem to be broken up over it considering he was last seen in a hotel glass elevator with two women at Cannes.
